WIMPS Moving & Relocation

· 3030 E Bison Trail Unit 1, Sioux Falls, SD 57108, USA

I've driven past that industrial stretch on Bison Trail a hundred times without thinking twice about what happens inside those units — but 3030 is where WIMPS keeps their trucks, and where a lot of Sioux Falls families start the hardest day of their year.

Moving is awful. I don't care how organized you are or how many color-coded bins you bought at Target — there's a moment around hour three when you're sitting on the floor of your old place, surrounded by half-filled boxes, wondering why you own so many spatulas. That's when you call someone like WIMPS.

They've been doing this since the '90s, which in Sioux Falls moving years makes them practically ancient. The name stands for "We Improve Moving & Packing Services," though I've heard at least five people assume it means something about weaklings — it doesn't, and honestly, watch these guys load a sleeper sofa and you'll never question their upper body strength again.

What I appreciate is they're not trying to upsell you into some corporate relocation package if you're just moving from McKennan Park to Tea. They handle the big stuff — cross-country moves, corporate transfers, the whole production — but they'll also just show up with a truck and move your one-bedroom off Minnesota Ave without making you feel like a small-time client.

The honest part? Their booking window can get tight in summer. Everyone moves between May and August, and WIMPS only has so many crews. I know someone who called in late June hoping for a July 4th weekend slot and ended up waiting two weeks — which, fine, but plan ahead.

They do packing services too, which sounds excessive until you're staring at your kitchen and realizing you have no idea how to wrap wine glasses so they don't explode in transit. Sometimes paying someone who's done it eight thousand times is the right call.

I haven't used them myself yet, but I've bookmarked the number for the inevitable day I have to leave my place on 10th Street.
